Integrating WooCommerce with Mailchimp

How to Sell Online Courses with Thrive Apprentice & WooCommerce

In this lesson, we'll be integrating WooCommerce with Mailchimp, so once a customer has made a purchase, he or she will be added to your email list.

In order for this to happen, we need to first install the Mailchimp for WooCommerce plugin.

Inside your WordPress dashboard, click on Plugins >> Add New.

Next, search for, install and activate the Mailchimp for WooCommerce plugin.

Search for, install and activate the Mailchimp for WooCommerce plugin.

After that, you'll be prompted to log in to your Mailchimp account followed by a form requiring some additional personal information. Once done, simply hit the Start Sync button.

Now when a customer buys your course, they'll also see an option to sign up to your mailing list (on the Checkout page).

Short, sweet, and helpful, right?

  • Thanks a lot, Christine, for these tutorials. You make them so easy like Hanne and the rest of Thrive’s staff do.

I have a question, and that is, what if I don’t want to use MailChimp, but want to use other Email service providers like Klaviyo or SendFox. Is that possible?

  • Hanne, Today we sell a lot of products and services by sending a direct shopping cart link to clients. If we add the MailChimp plugin, would all purchases be tagged with the same tag or would we be able to put a tag for courses or other tags for other products?

    • Hi Michael,

I’m happy to say that now Thrive Automator solves this exact problem! You can set up an automation to only tag people who bought a specific product 🙂

      • Thank you. When last week I watched the announcement for Automator I thought it was advanced stuff I would never use! And now, a week later I found an application for it.

I have a similar issue with the customer registration; today our customers don’t need to register to purchase, whereas for the course they would need to. Is this another application for the Automator or do we need to hack WooCommerce?

  • Hi,

I use a danish service called
They offer a html code, which I use when people get on my email list.
Is it possible to use html to connect to Woocommerce like you do with Mailchimp in this video?

  • Hi… I don’t see any plugins for woocommerce and my mail service, Aweber. Am I still able to use Aweber with WooCommerce? (I currently use it for all other Thrive optin forms, etc, on my web site.)
